Brian Martis MD, MBA (President)
Dr. Brian Martis is a psychiatrist and healthcare leader with over 25 years of experience in mental health care, clinical research, and system-level leadership. He has dedicated most of his career to serving Veterans and is also a Professor of Psychiatry at UC San Diego School of Medicine. His clinical expertise includes trauma-related and treatment-resistant disorders, with a strong focus on improving access, safety, and quality in healthcare delivery.
A grateful alumnus of St. John’s Medical College (Batch of 1984), Dr. Martis is proud to support the FOSJ mission to strengthen key areas like rural health and geriatric medicine in St. John’s. He is also passionate about mentoring and coaching early career Johnites in their career journeys.
Mohan Peter MD (Treasurer)
Mohan Peter MD belongs to the Pioneer Batch (1963) at St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India. After graduation, he moved to the USA and trained in Cardio-Thoracic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During his 30 year career, Mohan served as Staff Surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH., Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn., Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, NH., Head of Cardiac Surgery at York Hospital, York, Pa., and Founder and Principal Cardiac Surgeon of de novo Cardiac Surgery Program at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh,WI. Following his 30 year career in Cardiac Surgery Mohan was a leadership coach for twelve years from 2005 with title of Adjunct Professor at the Raymond Mason School of Business in the College of William and Mary at Williamsburg, VA. Mohan was also actively involved in the startup and development of First Capital Bank in York PA which subsequently became part of Truist Bank Holdings. During his career, Mohan served as Member of Board of Directors of First Capital bank, President of a local chapter of the American Heart Association, President of the County Medical Society and Delegate to the Pennsylvania State Medical Society.
Sharon Doss, MD (Board Member)
Sharon Doss, MD, is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and an alumna of St. John’s Medical College, Class of 1988. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, followed by fellowships in Patient Safety and Quality Improvement at NorthShore University Research Institute and Integrative Medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. She has practiced with Endeavor Health Medical Group in Chicago’s northern suburbs for 18 years. Dr. Doss is committed to clinical excellence, compassionate patient-centered care, and advancing meaningful initiatives that strengthen healthcare, education, and the enduring mission of St. John’s.
Roy M. Joseph, MD (Board Member)
Dr. Roy M. Joseph is a board-certified gastroenterologist with over 35 years of experience in managing complex digestive and liver disorders from the batch of ’80. He graduated of St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, India in 1986. He completed his residency in Brooklyn, New York and subsequently a fellowship training in gastroenterology, liver disease and Nutrition. Dr. Joseph is affiliated with Digestive Health Associates of Texas in Denton, Texas and is committed to clinical excellence in patient care and education.
Philip Alexander MD (Board Member)
Dr. Philip Alexander is a board-certified Cardio-Thoracic surgeon and is an Alumnus of St. John's Medical College (batch of 1986). Dr. Alexander completed his General Surgery residency and subsequent Cardio-thoracic fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He has been in private practice with the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Associates S.C (CTVSA) in the greater Chicago area now for over 25 years, involved in high volume, high acuity work in the field of adult cardiac surgery, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve the communities of the Chicagoland area.
Philip has been involved in philanthropic activity for the poor and needy in Bangalore and south India for over 15 years. His charitable organization supports the activity of deserving orphanages, old age homes, dialysis units and various other projects of thoroughly vetted, deserving cases of the poor in desperate need.
Philip is honored to be given the opportunity to serve on the board of FOSJ and excited to engage with the college administration, parent alumni, students and faculty to support the vision and mission of the organization.
