Who can I bring?
At this time attendance will be limited to Alumni with spouse/partner and children. At a later time, if numbers permit, will be updated to include guests.
*If your spouse is an Alumnus, please register separately. Children can be registered under either spouse.
What is the weather like in San Diego, in late October?
Since we will be on the coast, it should be very pleasant 65-75° during the day, and a bit chilly outdoors at night.
How far is the Resort from the airport?
The resort is on Pacific Beach, about 6 miles from the airport and 9 miles from downtown. Uber should be between $20-30 depending on the demand.
How far is the Resort from the beach?
The resort is on the beach at Mission Bay, and 2 blocks from the ocean.
Are there eating places close to the Resort?
Yes, there are numerous restaurants, bars, waterfront dining, cafes, as well as grocery stores, pharmacies, beach and bike rentals, and even churches within walking distance.
Is alcohol allowed at the beach?
Alcohol consumption and possession is NOT permitted on the beach, and in open public areas (sports field).
Is there a noise ordinance?
Yes. Outdoor loud music is allowed until 10 pm, and indoors until 12 midnight.
Can golf be organized?
Yes. If there are a sufficient number of golfers interested by July 1, 2026, a block of tee-times can be booked for Friday morning.
Prices vary widely, and will try to keep the green fees between $50 and $100.

Can we do group booking for some of the attractions/ activities?
Yes, if there are sufficient numbers. Please let us know and we can look into group rates.
Also, if people are interested (and adequate numbers) in an optional full day Mexican trip on Wednesday, we can hire a vehicle and driver. Passports, visas, and Global Entry cards will be required.

Is the registration fee considered a Charitable contribution for tax purposes?
NO. The registration fee is to cover the costs of the event including Educational Sessions, Meals (dinner on Friday, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and Brunch on Sunday), Sports, and Entertainment. It is NOT considered a Charitable Contribution by the IRS.
If you do want to make a Charitable contribution, this must be done directly through FOSJ and this can be accessed through their website at https://friendsofstjohnsmc.org

Organized Sports Activities
Saturday 11am–3pm (sign-ups required)
- Men: Cricket and Soccer at the reserved Sports Field. (Equipment provided)
- Women: Volleyball, Throwball, or Tennicoit at the reserved Sports Field. (Equipment provided)
- Open: Tennis and Pickleball courts will be reserved at the nearby Bahia Hotel. (Bring your own equipment)
Friday
Tennis and Pickleball courts can be booked at the nearby Bahia Hotel by anyone staying at the Catamaran Resort.
Golf can be arranged if there is sufficient interest. Please email Vivek directly atvnazareth61@gmail.com if interested in playing together as a group.
Suggested Activities
San Diego is a popular vacation and conference destination. Since it is in the southwest corner of the country, adding a few days before or after the reunion will be quite rewarding.
Activities include:
- Balboa Park and Museums
- Midway Museum (famous WWII aircraft carrier)
- Cabrillo National Monument
- Harbor/Bay Cruises
- San Diego Zoo and Safari Parks (world famous)
- Sea World
- Legoland (for kids)
- Water sports and activities (sailing, wave runners, pontoon boats, floating Tiki Bars, surfing, water skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking)
- Guided snorkeling and kayak tours through the iconic La Jolla ecological reserve
- Hiking and mountain biking trails
- Golf, including the famous Torrey Pines PGA course
- Trips to Mexico (full day), including TJ, Rosarito, Puerto Nuevo (lobster town), and Ensenada/Valle de Guadalupe (wine country)
- Winery trips to Temecula
- Visit to Old Town with its heritage, outdoor Mexican dining, Mariachi music, and awesome Margaritas
- Indoor activities include theater, concerts, live music, and fine dining
Optional “Thursday PM” Activities
- Please feel free to contact your classmates and organize your own class reunions, if so inclined.
- For those attendees who are planning to be in town on Thursday, October 22nd (or prior), and ARE NOT planning their own batch reunions, a hosted evening will be organized at the home of a local Johnite. The evening will include fun, camaraderie, food, beverages, and sing-song to kick off what we hope will be a memorable weekend. Please sign up on the registration sheet before July 1, 2026, so we can anticipate attendance numbers. All are welcome!
